On September 16th, 2019 Adysen was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in her Sacrum. She went through the normal MAP protocol which includes Doxorubicin, Cisplatin and Methotrexate and also includes having a surgery in the middle of the Chemo protocol which was on December 13th, that surgery lasted 10 hours and there were 3 full teams of doctors that worked on her and everything went great. The second surgery was on December 16th the same 3 teams of doctors: Dr. Cipriano (orthopedic surgeon) Dr. Buchowski (Spine Surgeon) and Dr. Brogan (Orthopedic Surgeon) which lasted 12 hours.  They were able to remove the entire tumor with good margins which was the best news ever!!! She started back to chemo on February 10th 2020. She was doing amazing, but on May 15th, 2020 they did a CT scan and a bone scan just to see where we were, because she only had 4 weeks left to go and it had spread.  They found 6 new tumors 2 in each lung, 1 on her 1st rib and 1 on her right hip bone. It was devastating to say the least. She had a lung surgery that was unsuccessful and then was put on an immunotherapy that seemed very promising at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on June 24th, she finished 1 cycle of it, but the cancer was just too aggressive and it took over so much of her lungs that on August 15th at 11:46 a.m. she passed away at St. Louis Children’s Hospital surrounded by her mom, dad, sister, and other family members.
